The Heavy Equipment & Aggregate Truckers Association of Manitoba Inc. offers its members the opportunity to join a variety of committees and advise the association while networking and creating new contacts within the industry. A member can ask to join a committee at any time throughout the year by emailing the office at memberservices@heatmb.ca.
The City of Winnipeg Committee meets as required and directs the committee Chairperson and the Manager, Stakeholder Relations, in dealing with the City of Winnipeg issues. The committee provides suggestions for upcoming tenders and also meets upon completion of the work to review what was handled well and what improvements might need to be made (ie: safety concerns). In addition, representatives meet with elected City of Winnipeg representatives to discuss successes and challenges and how HEAT can be a valuable partner to the City of Winnipeg.
This committee is chaired by a Director appointed by the Board and shall consist of two (2) or more individuals from the general membership and one (1) or more Directors from the Board.
The Provincial & Municipal Committee meets as required and directs the committee Chairperson and the Manager, Stakeholder Relations, in dealing with the Province of Manitoba and other municipal bodies. Representatives of the committee meet regularly with Manitoba Transportation & Infrastructure to become informed of upcoming endeavours and provide feedback when necessary. This committee also works closely with Manitoba Motor Carrier Enforcement & Permits to ensure that members receive timely information and can connect with persons who can answer their compliance questions.
This committee is chaired by a Director appointed by the Board and shall consist of two (2) or more individuals from the general membership and/or one (1) or more directors of the Board.
The Snow Removal Standards Ad Hoc Committee was formed in 2021 when many years of discussion regarding the challenges faced by contractors turned into viable solutions that a dedicated group of industry experts could work to improve. This committee has created valuable resources for our contractor members who do important snow removal work in addition they advocate for fair and safe work practices for companies and operators. This committee works closely with the Manager, Stakeholder Relations who advises on proper channels for gaining support for the initiatives.
This committee is chaired by a Director of the Board and consists of one (1) or more individuals from the general membership and/or two (2) or more Directors of the Board and may vary depending upon the event and expertise needed for the project. Committee members may also include industry partners who are not members of the association.
The role of the Constitution & Nomination Committee is to meet and discuss changes to the Constitution as necessary, in addition to considering members in good standing as potential candidates for the Board and presenting a list to the current Board of Directors for Consideration.
The Past President shall chair this committee with at least two (2) other members
consisting of one (1) other member of the Board and at least one (1) general member.
The purpose of the End Dump & Training Ad Hoc Committee is to devise and develop training courses of benefit to HEAT members. Providing online courses that allow members to efficiently and effectively train employees at a reasonable cost is the goal for this committee.
This ad-hoc committee shall consist of one (1) or more individuals from the general membership and/or two (2) or more Directors of the Board and may vary depending upon the event and expertise needed for the project. Committee members may also include industry partners who are not members of the association.
The Social & Entertainment Committee meets monthly and works alongside the office staff to plan and execute the many social and fundraising events that HEAT offers. Committee members oversee budgets, location choices and menus while providing valuable feedback on the events.
This committee is chaired by a Director of the Board and shall consist of one (1) or more individuals from the general membership and/or one (1) or more Directors of the Board and may vary depending upon the event and expertise of the individuals.
The membership committee meets monthly to review newly joined members, to discuss recruitment of new members and to advise on resources offered to the membership. The committee also works alongside the office staff to organize and execute membership events.
This Committee shall be chaired by a Director appointed by the Board and shall consist of one (1) or more individuals from the general membership and a minimum of one (1) other Director of the Board.
