HEAT LEARNING PORTAL COURSES


Our association is pleased to be able to offer an online learning portal which provides companies and contract administrators the opportunity to offer online courses for their employees or contracted persons to receive the training necessary to do their job safely and effectively.
 

The following courses are currently offered:
 

“Best Practices for Snow Removal on City Streets and Lanes” Orientation.

Designed for operators who are hired hourly to run loaders, graders, truckplows and sidewalk cleaning equipment, this short training program will give consistent information and guidelines on a variety of subjects including but not inclusive to:
 

  • How to minimize damages to curbs and sod
  • Where to dump snow when clearing lanes
  • Bus Stop Clearing
  • Fire Hydrant Cleaning
  • Approach and Intersection Cleaning
  • Winging
  • Proper Paperwork Procedures


Operators are able to take this easy to navigate orientation on computers or mobile devices. Completion of the orientation is mandatory before operating equipment for bid hourly tenders. A certificate will be issued upon completion and must be shown to a City of Winnipeg Foreman at the beginning of each shift. Paper or digital copies are accepted!
 

“City of Winnipeg Best Practices for Spring Clean Up”

Designed for operators who perform various spring clean-up tasks for the City of Winnipeg, this Spring Clean Up Best Practices course will provide you with important information about the tasks you may be expected to perform and how to work with the additional pieces of equipment on your crew. Once you have completed this course, you will be able to:

 

  • Describe best practices for spring clean-up from City streets, intersections and back lanes.
  • Describe your responsibilities as an operator of spring clean-up equipment.
  • Explain the ways in which you can reduce damage to City property, private property and equipment.
  • Describe ways to avoid safety hazards to pedestrians, motorists and other operators.
  • Proper Paperwork Procedures
